European Olive Oil
The Mediterranean is the cradle of the diet which has become synonymous with well-being and health. Nine EU member States producing European olive oil possess about 5 million hectares of olive groves, most of which are dedicated to the production of this wonderful nectar. For this reason, it is easy to picture the land around the Mediterrenean as a silvery and immense expanse of green olive trees.

These sun-kissed countries are Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal, France, Slovenia, Croatia, Cyprus and Malta. The European Union is the leading producer, exporter and consumer of olive oil in the world. In February 2020, 69% of world olive oil production was European.
A production characterized by the highest safety and quality standards and appreciated all over the world: the main destinations of European olive oil are the United States, Brazil and Japan.
But what makes European olive oil an absolutely unique and highly sought after product globally?
Certainly the quality of the raw material, the care of the product, the technical knowledge and technological progress, put at the service of a supply chain that favors processes that are as natural as possible - without disregarding the stringent control and certification checks - and thus capable of introducing only the best oil on the market.
European olive oil is good and of the highest quality because the European Union safeguards its origins and guarantees that its production is conducted according to the highest quality and conservation standards, so that when it reaches consumers it keeps all its best original properties.
The European Union has specific regulations for compliance checks that are carried out at a national or regional level. Member States are responsible for organizing and carrying out these checks.
The European olive oil regime is also integrated into the Common Market Organization (CMO), which includes, for example, regulations for the support of the olive oil sector and a number of definitions, specific denominations and sales descriptions that are relevant to the olive sector.
Marketing regulations include rules on packaging, labeling, cooperation between operators and control authorities, labeling control and sanctions.
This seemingly complex European olive oil control system makes this product safe and certified, thus ensuring consumer protection and fair practices between businesses and consumers.
We are in the heart of the Mediterranean, where the olive tree has taken root from the most distant past and is now projected towards a future worthy of its history.
